Poornima Patwardhan is a famous Bollywood actress. She was born to Vijay Singhrao Madhavrao Patwardhan and Rajlaxmi Patwardhan. Her sister’s name is Bhagyashree Patwardhan.In 1987, her debut as a child actress took place in Kachchi Dhoop. Louisa May Alcott's novel "Little Women" inspired the television series. The show was directed by Amol Palekar and written by Chitra Palekar. In 1988, she got a role in Nicolas Klotz’s La Nuit Bengal, also known as The Bengali Night. The semi-autobiographical film starred Soumitra Chatterjee, Shabana Azmi, Hugh Grant, and Supriya Pathak.
The movie was based on a Romanian novel, Bengal Nights by Mircea Eliade. In 2003, Patwardhan grabbed a role in Robin Khosla’s Taj Mahal: A Monument of Love, where she played the role of Mumtaz Mahal.
