Born in a high profile family of Kerala, Ambika Pillai is the style queen of the fashion industry. She is a prominent makeup artist and hairstylist of cinema. She lived a luxurious childhood as her father was a cashew exporter. His name was Gopinath Pillai. The name of her mother was Santha Pillai. They lived in a beautiful bungalow by the backwaters of Kollam. She had always been close to the environment and loved its beauty. She had sharp features and a model look. But she did not like to be on-stage.
But the sun doesn’t shine forever. At a small age of seventeen, she was forced to marry Surendra Nath in the year 1980. All her luxuries were no longer there. The couple shifted to Calcutta and lived in a one-bedroom apartment there. They also had a daughter named Kavitha. In such situations, relationships die a natural death. The couple separated, and Ambika married Rakesh in the year 1993. He was a drunkard and a gambler as well. Due to his ruthless behavior, she divorced him as well. Finally, she decided to achieve her identity. She also trained her three sisters Gopika, Renuka, and Devika. She had a good fashion sense from the very beginning and loved to look different.
So she started her career as a hair stylist. After being perfect in it, she moved towards make-up. First, she worked under different people and after collecting enough money, she started her salon. She named it Visions by Ambika. But later she decided to do something bigger. She wanted Ambika Pillai to be exclusive. So she opened a brand by her name and today it is one of the leading brands of industry. She lives in
but often travels to Kerala for work. She has received various honors like The Best Makeup Artist IAAFA award in the year 1996, Kingfisher Fashion Award in the year 2000; Vogue Best Make Up Artist award in the year 2011.
