Santosh Anand is a famous Indian lyricist. He writes songs for Bollywood films. He was born on 5 March 1929 in Sikandarabad, Bulandshahar. He has written songs for a number of films in the Hindi film industry. Santosh Anand went to the Aligarh Muslim University to study library science. He started his career as a lyricist in 1970. He wrote the first time for the film, Purab aur Paschim. He wrote the soundtrack for the film. In 1972, he penned down the famous song Ek Pyar Ka Naghma Hai for the film, Shor. He wrote for another film in 1974. The film was titled Roti Kapda aur Makaan. He wrote the songs Aur Nahin Bas Aur Nahin and Main Na Bhoolunga for the film. Santosh Anand won the award for the best lyricist for the song Main Na Bhoolunga. He wrote for the film Kranti in 1981. He wrote songs like Tera Saath Hai To and Megha Re Megha Re in the same year. He wrote the songs for the film Pyaasa Sawan. In 1982, he wrote Mohabbat Hai Kya Cheez for the Hindi film, Prem Rog. 

Other films for which Santosh Anand wrote the soundtrack are Patthar Se Takkar (1980), Mera Jawab (1985), Patthar Dil (1985), Love 86 (1986), Mazloom (1986), Bade Ghar Ki Beti (1989), Naag Nagin (1989), Santosh (1989), Surya: An Awakening (1989), Ranbhoomi (1991), Junoon in 1992 and the list goes on. During his active years in the film industry, he wrote a total of 109 songs in 26 films. Most of his written songs are composed by the legendary composers Lakshmikant-Pyarelal. 

Santosh Anand is awarded with the award of the best lyricist at Filmfare Awards twice. He won his first Filmfare Award in the year 1974 for the song Main Na Bhoolunga in the film Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. In 1982, he won the Filmfare Award for the best lyricist second time. He won the award for his song Mohabbat Hai Kya Cheez in the film Prem Rog. He is also awarded with the Yash Bharti Award in 2016 for his contributions in the Bollywood industry. He has been honoured many times at several film functions. He was also honoured on Dada Saheb Phalke Jayanti.
