Mehak Jamal is an Indian filmmaker and writer. Mehak was born on 10th July 1993, in Srinagar, Kashmir. Mehak graduated from the Srishti Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, Bangalore, in 2016. She participated as one of the five film fellows in the Dharamshala Film Festival, which is one of the biggest film festivals in India in 2016. Mehak's Student short film ‘In My Own Skin,’ was exhibited at the Kashish-Mumbai International Queer Film Festival in 2017. Mehak was a screenwriting tutor at Film Independent’s Global Media Maker’s program in 2021. She was also a jotting fellow at the literary mentorship program, South Asia Speaks 2022.
She is writing her book, Loal Kashmir, a narrative non-fiction under the guidance of intelligencer Rahul Bhatia. Not only that, but she was also the co-writer of the feature film ‘Love Hostel,’ which was co-produced by Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. At the 19th Indian Film Festival Stuttgart 2022, Mehak’s short film ‘Bad Egg’ was premiered. It also won the German Star of India Audience and the Excellence in Cinema Award at the Atlanta Indian Film Festival 2022. She has also supervised scripts of many feature films, such as The Disciple (2021), The Sweet Requiem (2018), and Chuskit (2018). She is famous for her work in Bad Egg (2022), Love Hostel (2022), Never Kiss Your Best Friend (2020), and Behind the Trees (2019). Mehak is now working as a writer for Amazon and Disney.
