Vinod Kapri was born on 15August, 1972 and lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. By profession, he is a journalist, producer, film director and screenwriter. He was born in Secunderabad, located in Andhra Pradesh but his family shifted to Pithoragarh, located in Uttarakhand. His father was in the Army, so his family used to shift from place to place. He has done his schooling from Kendra Vidyalaya of different states. He started writing from a very early age and his first short-story was published in the year 1987. His writing skills were appreciated by all and after some time, he started writing for leading Indian dailies .

He also wrote a novel during his school time which was published by a newspaper as weekly stories. He did his graduation from Bareilly College, Uttar Pradesh.At the age of 19, he released his own monthly Magazine and named it “Indian EconoPatrika.” He became a Journalist at the age of 20 and got a job in a newspaper. He quit that job because of a lot of political interference. Then he worked with the newspapers like Dainik Jagran and Amar Ujala and explored his writing skills.

It was in the year 1992, that he started working with Zee News as a trainee reporter and by the year 1996, he was recognized as a political reporter. In the year 1998, he produced a show named “Ek Aur Nazaria” for the channel Zee India TV. In the meantime, he made various documentaries based on topics like Homosexuality, Dalai Lama, Mahakumbh of Allahabad, etc. He also made an award-winning documentary named “Can’t Take This Shit Anymore.” In the year 2002, he became an output editor for Zee News.

He joined Star News as an Executive Producer in the year 2004. He was given the post of Deputy Managing Editor. In the year 2007, he left Star News and joined India TV as a Managing Editor. He worked as a Journalist for 23 years after which he started making films. He did his debut with a feature film named “Miss Tanakpur Hazir Ho” which was released on June 26, 2015. The film was based on a real-life tragedy that occurred in Rajasthan and was a Socio-Political satire. It was critically acclaimed. He has announced his next project named “ Pihu Click to look into! >> Read More... ” based on the story of a two year old girl. The story of the movie would be based on a real-life incident and it would be a social thriller.
