Tulsi Ghimire is a renowned Indian Gorkha film director. He is best known for his work in the Nepali film industry. He was born on the 15th of July, 1951 in Kalimpong in West Bengal to Dhojman Ghimire and Narbada Ghimire, and both of them were of Nepali origin. His second movie Kusume Rumal, released in 1985 which was based on his own life, was a theatre hit. Along with being a director, he is also an actor, lyricist, screenwriter, cameraman, etc.
To talk about his personal life, Ghimire did his schooling at Mani Memorial Primary School located at Sindeybong, Darjeeling, and later at Scottish University Mission Institute (SUMI) situated at Kalimpong. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kalimpong College. He is married to Bharathi Ghimire. She has sung in some of his Nepali films. The couple has two daughters, Panchami Ghimire and Bhavana Ghimire, both of whom have made appearances in the Nepali children's film Swarg ki Pari.
Kusume Rumal, Lahure, Deute, Chino, and Darpan China are some of his successful films with Darpan Chhaya being a chartbuster. Â
