Samir Bhamra is a versatile artist specializing in playwriting, costume designing, producing, and directing musical plays in theatres. Samir was born on 7th September 1975 in Kenya, but he is currently a British citizen. He did his graduation in Mathematics and Computation from Loughborough University. Samir was always interested in arts and culture. His contribution to the field has earned him a place in the Top 5 Asian Power Couples 2020. He has said that he got inspirations from mythologies, British Literature and Indian Cinema to enter into diverging digital technologies and art forms.
Samir also holds the post of the Creative Director of the UK Asian Film Festival, the longest-running in South Asia. It is a platform that gives space to South Asian films to reach a greater audience in the UK. Samir has also mastered BollyIdol with BBC, which is a national talent search. Samir’s mesmerizing writing and directing skills include Stardust, Precious Bazaar, Bring on the Bollywood, and an adaptation of Cymbeline by William Shakespeare. Currently, he is the senior producer of the 2021 Belgrade Theatre Coventry, and Samir is producing 2021’s “UK City of Culture” program at the theatre.
