Pt. Shriram Dwivedi, the local headman, gave birth to Govind in Pasakhera, Uttar Pradesh. Kanpur was where he finished school. Govind Moonis gained notoriety as a seasoned screenwriter and director in the Hindi and Bhojpuri cinema industries. His work as a dialogue writer for movies like Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Dosti (1964), and Raat Aur Din (1965) helped him gain notoriety (1967). The films Nadiya Ke Paar (1982), Babul (1986), and Bandhan Baahon Ka helped him establish himself as a successful director (1988). Filmfare's Best Dialogue Award for Dosti was also given to the writer-director. Approximately 60 years of the senior director's career were spent working in the motion picture industry. As a result of his protracted illness, he died on May 5, 2010. When Govind's short story appeared in the print edition of Dainik Veerbhara in 1947, he experienced his first taste of success.

In practically every movie Satyen directed, the lyricist worked with him. He wrote the dialogue for Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi in 1958. For the 1964 movie Dosti, he wrote the dialogue and the script. Later, he collaborated with Satyen to write the dialogue for Aasra (1966).
