Ruchir Joshi is an eminent filmmaker, Indian writer, and journalist. He was born in 1960 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He is the son of famed writer Shivkumar Joshi and got the creativity and art of writing from his father. Ruchir graduated from Mayo College Ajmer, and in 1979, he moved to the United States of America to pursue undergraduate studies in Vermont. In search of better opportunities, Ruchir moved to New Delhi and worked there till 2007. He often traveled from Delhi to the UK for his writing career. When Joshi left the school, he acted in an English play called You’re a Good Man, directed by Zarin Chaudhuri. Ruchir is a columnist and writer for The Telegraph and India Today.
However, apart from writing columns in magazines and newspapers, Joshi stepped into a filmmaking career. In 1992, he made films on Bauls, as Egaro Miles (Eleven Miles), who are the cartels of Sufism and Sahaja belonging to West Bengal and constitute musical tradition and religious sect. To overcome political and societal conventions, his father had seen tremendous struggle. He was always allowed to lead the life he always wanted. Joshi’s piece of writing called Tracing Puppa regarding his father’s recollection in the Granta 109 series was published. He has been predominantly known for his debut novel The Last Jet-Engine Laugh (2001. Ruchir delicacies of Bong juxtapose the flavor of bursting pieces in his writings. He is a crisp writer with the intuitive effect to showcase his unique take on several experiences.
