Parasher Baruah

Parasher Baruah is a Mumbai-based director and cinematographer. He is also the C.E.O. and Founder of AVA FILMS. He earned his bachelor's degree from India's Film and Television Institute (FTII). He has worked on several feature films, both regional and Hindi, and several documentaries in various capacities. Chappad Phaad Ke on Disney Hotstar, Axone on Netflix, and Bahut Hua Sammaan on Disney Hotstar are some of his latest feature films. In 2020-21, he directed music videos for Sony Music India, SUFISCORE, and other indie music labels and shot three web series as a cinematographer. As a cinematographer, Parasher has worked on over 200 music videos and is a part of well-known music-based travelogues like MTV Sound Trippin, Dewarist, and others.

 His documentary Nodir Kul Nai was selected for the 12th International Documentary & Short Films Festival Kerala (IDSFFK) Competition Division in 2019. Waste, a documentary that  he directed on Mumbai's waste collectors, was screened at the D.O.K.FEST in Munich (2009). His documentary, The Supermen of Malegaon, has received international acclaim and is considered India's best documentary. His films have received national and international recognition and have been screened at several film festivals. Since 2018, he has been involved with the Queen's University, Belfast, researching Majuli, the world's most oversized populated island, and its hidden legacy and climate change impact. As part of the same initiative, he created and directed six short films.
