Shivam Gupta works in Bollywood as an actor and a casting director from Agra. He practiced in theatre for five years in Delhi and then eventually moved to Mumbai in 2015.
Gupta’s career as a casting director began from a Sony TV show, Harry Parma. And since he has worked in various projects as a casting assistant. Some of his castings are part of projects like Ki and Ka, Trapped, Daddy, Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
In an interview with mid-day.com, Shivam revealed about his journey in the industry and what all obstacles he had to tackle. On being asked about his experience as a theater person, he reminisced about his Delhi days. He recalls doing his first plays with Bani Sardar Joshi.
His first performance was at the Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi. He worked along with Bani for three years after that, doing various plays.
Then he met bigger theater persons like Robin Das Robin Das is an Indian actor. He was born in Balas >> Read More... and V K Sharma; they performed together in Odisha and some other parts of Eastern India.
Gupta was also a part of the National School of Drama, as an outside performer. All of this greatly helped him build his confidence, but at the end of the days, the monetary gains weren’t much. Gupta then goes on to talk about him wanting to be an actor but ending up as a casting director.
He recalls how he landed with a job of casting by Rajkumar Sharma and was even paid Rs 2000. Eventually, Gupta found his grooves in casting. He tells how it was a new take on his creativity. Since casting and performing go somewhat parallel.
Hence around 2014, Shivam decided on becoming a casting director. He further talks about moving to Mumbai in 2015, an aspiring casting director.

Through him, Shivam was able to get into projects like Ki and Ka. And through Parma’s introduction, he bagged projects like Trapped and Daddy. He had a very educational time with his and also got into the Sacred Games project as head casting director. Later, he started working as an independent casting director, and his first movie was Saregama India’s Music Teacher.
After that, Gupta worked on Shakuntala Devi biopic, Little Things season 3, and a film named Kanpur. Shivam Gupta’s filmography includes a variety of roles he has played in the film industry.
He has worked as a casting associate in Netflix’s original, Sacred Games (2019) for eight episodes, Amazon Prime’s Mirzapur (2018), for nine episodes. Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018), Fredrick (2016), Raid 92018), and Chacha Vidhayak Hain Hamare (2018), eight episodes are some other projects he worked as a casting associate.
He worked as a casting assistant in Binnu Ka Sapna (2019), Ghoul (2018), a mini web series, Daddy (2017), Trapped (2016), and Ki and Ka (2016). As a casting director, he has worked in Bole chudiyan (2020), Barah by Barah (2020), The Photographer (2018), Pinni (2020), Sleeping Partner (2020), Swaaha (2020, Thappad (2020), Zindagi inShort (2020), Little Things (2019), for eight episodes, Kanpuriye (2019), Biscut (2019), and Music Teacher (2019). Besides casting, Shivam has also appeared in roles like Sorry... Love You (2016) as the Younger brother, Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018) as Sukesh, Oass(2012) as Young Jhukki. He was credited with special thanks for the Netflix movie, Maska (2020).
