Vee Shi is a Chinese-born director and producer who is a native of Melbourne, Australia. He assisted Michael McMahon and worked for the company Big and Little Films Pty. Ltd. He first began his career with Naati Interpreter (ENG & Mandarin; based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia), working as a freelance director. Vee Shi has also worked for Niu Studios and has now been working for Big and Little Films Pty Ltd since July 2023. He is famous for making films like Jia (2023), Dumb Ways to Die (2019), and Discovering (2015).
For his work, he has won at least five awards (Best Direction In An Australian Short Film, Best Direction in a Student Film for the film Jia, City of Melbourne Award for Best Australian Short Film Jia, Audience Choice for the film Dumb Ways to Die) and seven nominations (Jia film for the category “Best Film” 2023, Best of Australian Shorts- Jia, and other nominations for the film Jia and Dumb Ways To Die).
