Aparna Sud

Aparna Sud is a Production Designer and art director in the Indian film industry who has been working in the films for years. She hails from Shimla and has done a course in Interior Designing alongside her graduation in Chandigarh, after graduation, she moved to Mumbai with the help of her cousin who is well settled in the city.

She got her first job from Vinod guruji who was her sister's boss, she first met him on the sets of Dil Ka Rishta where in Aishwarya Rai was dancing for a song. She was paid Rs.6000 for her first job and then later worked for films like Dhoom, TV shows like Dhadakan, and few Ad films too.

Director Ram Gopal Varma who has always been welcoming to new talents gave her a chance to work for a song in his film Darna Zaroori Hai, impressed by her working skills he immediately offered her to work in his following three films, Shiva, Darling and Nishabd and then went on to do a total of 8 films with the director. She says her first two to three films have been more of a learning experience to her, which helped her understand the gaps and sink in with the rest of the crew. After working with Ram Gopal Varma she moved to Sanjay Gupta and worked for Dus Kahaniyaan, Also, she worked for a couple of songs in Pankh, Faltu, Ajab Gazab Love and ABCD.

The film ABCD helped her get an opportunity to work for a Hollywood film called Heartbeats. Aparna sud worked for various other films like Tevar, A Gentleman, etc. But so far Neerja happens to be her most recognized work, which was not only a head-turner but also bought her several nominations and awards, she won the Best Production Designer award for Neerja from Zee Cine awards along with Anne Ipe. She designed the plane that is seen in the film Neerja from scratch; upon the director's insistence, the crew had to craft a fully functional one including functioning toilets.

This work of her was well appreciated, and she requested the government and also wrote to the Prime Minister Of India, Narendra Modi Born on September 17, 1950, in Mehsana, Gujarat, N >> Read More... to shift the plane to a park where kids can see a plane from in and out, as it is quite close to a real one. But despite her repeated requests, no one came forward to do so and was eventually tore down.
