Rajendra Yadav

Rajendra Yadav is one of the most famous Indian Hindi writers and a pioneer in the Nayi Kahani Movement of Hindi Literature, along with co-writers Mohan Rakesh and Kamleshwar. He was born on 28 August 1929 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where he completed his early education. He completed his master's in arts in Hindi in 1951 from Agra University. He later wrote several other novels like Ukhre Hue Log, Kulta, Shaah Aur Maat, and Strangers on the Roof. He also wrote a love tragedy story with his wife, Mannu Bhandari, Ek Inch Muskaan. Rajendra also wrote several stories like Singhvahini, Sambandh, Seize Fire, Mehmaan, etc., and translated works by Russian writers Turgenev, Chekhov, Lermontov, and Albert Camus. Rajendra worked as an editor for a monthly Hindi literary magazine, Hans, and wrote on several issues like feminism, women & Dalit empowerment, inequality, and poverty. He had honored with the Yash Bharati Award, the highest civilian award in Uttar Pradesh, in 2013. Rajendra Yadav died on 28 October 2013 in New Delhi after being admitted to a hospital.
