Ehsan Jafri was an Indian politician and former member of the sixth Lok Sabha from the Congress Party. Ehsan Jafri was born in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, British India, in 1929 to Dr. Allahbaksh Jafri. In 1935, Ehsan's family moved to Ahmedabad. Ehsan studied at the RC Secondary School. He completed his law degree and practiced law in Ahmedabad. While in school, he started an Urdu Magazine due to his interest in literature. His poetry collection, Qandeel, was published in 1996. Jafri was married to Zakia Jafri, and they have a daughter, Nishrin Hussain. 

He joined the Congress Party under the leadership of Indira Gandhi. Ehsan led the city unit of Congress in 1972. In 1977, Ehsan managed to win a Lok Sabha seat from the Ahmedabad constituency and became a parliamentarian in the sixth Lok Sabha. He had been administering the Congress Party in Gujarat since then. 

He died in the Gulbarg Society massacre during the 2002 Gujarat riots. On 28 February 2002, Gujarat faced a vast riot, and Ehsan was one of the victims who lost their life. A mob attacked the society where Ehsan lived, and it was considered one of the biggest communal clashes. Ehsan's wife Zakia Jafri, and his daughter, Nishrin Hussain, are survivors after the massacre. Zakia alleged that the then CM was responsible for the riot. However, the Supreme Court didn't accept her allegations. Nishrin lives in Delaware, US.
