Jagi Mangat Panda is an Indian media or broadcast entrepreneur, industrialist, and model. Also, she is the managing director and founder of Odisha’s largest television network Odisha Television Ltd. She was born on November 6, 1967. Her place of birth is Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India. She did a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biology and Chemistry at Osmania University, Hyderabad. Her father’s name is Ranadhir Singh, and her mother’s name is Umadevi. She has a brother named Subhrakant Panda, the CEO and managing director of IMFA. She married Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda on August 13, 1994. Her husband is an Indian politician and national vice president, and spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Jagi Mangat Panda went to Mumbai to pursue her career in modeling. During her college days, she was the winner of the Miss Stanley Contest, and then was Miss Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, she also had a short stint as an air hostess with Air India. She has featured in many television ads in the late 1990s. She got famous for her Cadbury’s ad, in which she danced at a cricket stadium. In 1996, she took her Management Development Programme at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Then, she became the Managing Director and founder of Ortel Communications Ltd. It is a significant player cable and high-speed broadband service provider company with a marketing-leading position in Odisha Television Ltd (OTV). Under her leadership, the company became the largest television network in Odisha. The network includes Tarang (General Entertainment Channel), Odisha TV (News Channel), Tarang Music (Music Channel), Prarthana (Lifestyle Channel), and Alankar (Movie Channel) are market leaders in their respective categories.

She has over twenty-two years of experience in the media and broadcasting industry. Jagi Mangat Panda has earned the moniker of “Queen of Odisha Airwaves” and several accolades. Jagi Mangat Panda was considered a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2007. In 2016, she received the Devi Award instituted by the New Indian Express. In 2019, she won the ‘Outlook SpeakOut Awards – Top Women Achiever Honour.’ Also, she was honored for her outstanding contribution to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), 2018-19. She was the chairperson at CII’s Odisha Council and the CII Eastern region.
