Vaju kotak is a Gujarati writer, publisher, journalist, Indian film director, and screenwriter. He was born on 30th January 1915, in Rajkot, Gujarat. He has studied up to the first year of his BA. In 1937, He came to Ahmadabad for a job and, from 1939, settled in Bombay. He is known to be the co-founder of the weekly magazine Chitralekha, published in two languages, Gujarati and Marathi.

He entered the film industry as an assistant director in 1941. His first book was Ruparani-translation of the autobiography of Isadora Duncan in 1941. Ramkada vahu, Juvan haiya, Gharni shobha, Chundadi ane chokha, Ha ke no are his literary works. He wrote 9 Novels. In 1973, a road in Bombay was named after him in Rajkot, Gujarat. He is also known for his film shatranj. He died on 29th November 1959 in Bombay due to a heart attack.
