Faisal Hashmi is an Indian Gujarati film director and screenwriter. He was born on August 1, 1985. Faisal Hashmi's place of birth is Palanpur in Banas Kantha district, Gujarat, India. He went to Jaipur Engineering College, Rajasthan, to pursue his education in Mechanical Engineering. Apart from being a filmmaker, Faisal Hashmi is a comic book geek, an avid reader, a cineaste, and a VFX enthusiast. Faisal Hashmi's father is a school teacher, and his mother is a homemaker. Faisal Hashmi's parents wanted him to become an engineer, but he was more passionate about films. He got selected in Infosys during the campus placement while pursuing Mechanical Engineering. Later, he was offered an appointment. To pursue his passion for filmmaking, he did not go to Infosys.

He started his career in films as a writer & director with his debut film "Lakshman Gole" in Hindi. The film was a biography of a real-life gangster Laxman Gole from Mumbai. Shakuntala Studios produced the movie. The film gained critically acclaimed from many respected personalities and was chosen to be shown in many jails. After that, he directed and wrote a Gujarati romantic comedy-drama feature film, "Vitamin She" in 2017. The film gained him many accolades & recognition in Gujarat and was a great success at the theatre.  In 2019, he wrote and directed a Gujarati science fiction comedy-drama film, "Short Circuit," based on the concept of Time loop. The film acclaimed positive reviews and accolades for its direction, plot, VFX, and performances. He was nominated for best screenplay, best story, best director, and best dialogues at International Gujarati Film Festival - IGFF 2019 at Gujarati Iconic Film Awards – GIFA 2019. Faisal Hashmi is also known as a comic book geek. He has more than two thousand comic books in his collection. His second Gujarati language feature film is "Daud Pakad," a comedy thriller film in 2022.
