of Gujarat. Ramesh Mehta was married to Vijayagauri at the age of 17. He joined the drama company of Irani Sheth in 1955. Before joining Indian National Theatre, Ramesh Mehta did a job as a proofreader. He wrote two plays ‘Sodi Vachche Sopari’ and ‘Hu Eno Var Chhu’. The play-act was a turning point in his life and he got an opportunity to write for the Gujarati film 'Hasta Melap’.
Ramesh Mehta is known for his scriptwriting for the movies ‘Jesal Toral’, ‘Ghunghat Raja Bharathari’, ‘Hothal Padamani’ and ‘Valo Namori’. Other than being a scriptwriter for the movie Jesal Toral, Ramesh Mehta also played the role of a comedian in the movie. In his career, Ramesh did more than 150 films and many plays. He died at the age of 79 on 11 May 2012 in Rajkot, Gujarat.
