Plot

Paalaar Movie is based on real-life events that happened in Kolar, Bagepalli, Chikkaballapur, and Devanahalli (AP Border Districts of Karnataka) near Bengaluru, Karnataka. The story revolves around a young Dalit singer and a young revolutionary fighter. They fight for their rights while facing issues and problems from a few discriminating upper-caste people, to survive, each day. Star Performance

Uma Y.G. (Kannada Folk Singer, Theatre Artist, and Film Actor of Cinema Bandi Telugu Movie Fame) delivers an extraordinary performance. Her dialogue delivery and body language are stunning. The action scenes and weapon handling are raw and realistic. Tilak Raj A (National School of Drama Alumni-Debut with Legendary Actor Late Shri. Puneeth Rajkumar Puneeth was born on 17th March 1975 in Madras, Tam >> Read More... ) did a great job portraying himself as a young revolutionist. Both Uma Y.G. and Tilak Raj A. display their emotions naturally very well in all the emotional scenes. The rest of the cast has done a great job in playing their roles as realistic as possible.

Analysis

The movie focuses on the everyday struggles of Dalit people, especially women. The story throws us into the life of a Dalit Singer and a revolutionary fighter and their struggles against some discriminating upper-caste people. It focuses on the injustices in society like inequality, casteism, discrimination, and more importantly, honour-killing. The story also throws light on the importance of agriculture and the injustices that occur to the farmers due to the illegal occupying of land by industrialists and politicians. The dialogue is sharp and stunning. The action sequences are pretty raw. Uma Y. G's dialogue delivery and action scenes are highly applaudable. Thanks to the director and writer Jeeva Naveen for portraying societal injustice as it is, without sugarcoating anything. Though there is a huge crew and cast, everyone has done their part well. The music by Subramanya Acharya is fantastic. Asif Rehan has handled the camera well. Vali Kulays has done a good job in editing. The Kannada language spoken in the film has a tinge of Telugu to it as an effort to maintain the nativity as the incident takes place in the Karnataka-AP border. The film cast includes many natural actors, especially theatre background artists.

What's There?

  • Uma Y. G's performance is absolutely impressive.
  • The dialogues are well written, and the dialogue delivery is sharp and realistic.
  • Tilak Raj A. has done a great job in his role.
  • The story is drafted with honesty, showing the true face of society and its discrimination against a group of people.
  • Neat cast and performances.
  • BGM, songs, and action are well executed.

What's Not There?

  • Minor flaws

Verdict

The story depicts the real-life incidents very well in a nail-gripping manner with excellent dialogues that carry a lot of pain and emotions, with an extraordinary performance from the lead roles.
