It is decided that Malika will marry will Mr. Baig’s elder son, Furqan. The second son of Mr. Baig, Nouman, loved a girl, but it was agreed that Malika would make decisions regarding the marriages of the other two sons of Mr. Baig. Both Malika and Nouman went to the girl’s house whom Nouman loved. After meeting the girl, Malika realizes that she is more intelligent and educated than her and, that her importance in the household will become less.

So she decided to choose a girl from the poor family named Khadija. Nouman didn’t like her, but accepted her. Malika used to make Khadija do all the household chores as she believed that Malika had done a favor on her as she had married a good person. After this, Baig decided to name the house after Malika, and she was filled with joy. Meanwhile, both Malika and Khadija were pregnant. Malika expected a boy, but the child turned out to be a girl and was named Rida. She was afraid that if Khadija’s child were a boy, then the whole property would be named after him.
