She wrote plays for theatre, radio, and television and got an award for her services to the performing arts in Pakistan(Pride of Performance). She wrote Pakistan's first original screenplay, Kiran Kahani, which aired in the early 1970s. Before that, PTV relied on a novel-based script for dramas. She was the best playwright that Pakistan had ever seen. The dramas she wrote like Ankahi, Des Pardes, Pal Do Pal, Kiran Kahani, Tanhaiyaan, Dhoop Kinaray, Aahat, Uncle Urfi, and Paris.
Her other works like Mere Dard ko Jo Zuban Milay, Tum Se Mil Kar, Dhundle Raste, Kaisa Yeh Junoon, Zabar, Mohism Joo, Shayad Ke Bahar Aaye, Bandish, and Zair, Pesh. She was born in Kanpur on 20th November 1941. She received her primary education in her ancestral region and, after Pakistan's independence in 1947, went to Pakistan with her family. She moved to Lahore after several years in Rawalpindi. In 1950 she settled in Karachi, where she graduated from the Government College for Women in 1960 and obtained her Masters of Arts(History) at the University of Karachi in 1963. Her desire for writing was visible from when she was in her last year of schooling. She got selected to write a weekly column. After that, her life as a writer starts.
