His wife, Warda (Namrah Shahid), works for a multinational company and supports the family financially. She convinces Iqtedaar to take on domestic duties even though her mother, Firdous (Shagufta Ejaz), despises having him as a son-in-law.

Firdous and Warda's younger brother Sweet (Zuhab Khan) team up to make Iqtedaar's life difficult through constant bullying and pranks to get him to leave. But despite all the antics, Iqtedaar perseveres thanks to Warda's support. She becomes reluctant to take sides between her husband and her family members. Ghar Jamai generates laughs by dramatizing the chaos that ensues when a male homemaker marries into a troublesome family.
