Durr-e-Shahwar is a Pakistani drama TV serial that aired on HUM TV in 2012. The story revolves around the life of Shandana and her mother Durr-e-Shahwar. This serial focuses on the hidden struggles of married life. A married couple goes through every sort of challenge in their life and these are well depicted in the serial. Shandana and Haider have been married to each other for the last eight years. But recently their relationship has not been a happy one and due to an argument, Shandana returns to her maternal house with her daughter Sophia. Shandana’s parents Durr-e-Shahwar and Mansoor love them a lot but Shandana feels that her parents had the perfect relationship and her mother got the perfect husband. She feels jealous of her mother’s peaceful life. She considers her mother’s life to be very comfortable with a loving partner.

Due to this she often compares her husband with her father. Seeing her daughter in so much emotional pain Durr-e-Shahwar decides to share her story and the reality of her marriage with her. She tells her that her marriage has been full of nothing but challenges and regrets. Each day she strived to be accepted by the family. Even her husband did not support her most of the time. Her marriage looks like a happy one only because she has learned to be forgiving towards the father of her child. This revelation about her father and his married life brings Shandana to a realization and she decides to give her another chance in to her marriage.
