The story revolves around the oppression of the poor by the feudal lords of the village. The story starts with Rehmatullah. He is an old farmer who is suffering from TB. The doctors of the village asked him to go to Karachi and treat him in a private hospital. Rehmatullah is very poor.

He cannot afford such a treatment. His friend asks the richest man in the village, Ghulam Rasud Khan, for money. He promises to lend money easily but he has evil reasons. When Rehmat gets fit Ghulam Rasud Khan proposes to marry his daughter, Zarina. Rasud Khan is already married, but his current wife is unable to bear a child. But Zarina is already engaged to Ali. Rasud oppressed Rehmat’s family to marry Sarina. But Rehmat secretly gets Zarina and Ali married and asks them to run to a faraway village to start a new life.

Rasud Khan uses all his man force to look for them. They run and hide in the jungle for several days. They make a hut in the forest and start living in it. Parallelly, there is a wealthy family in Karachi. The daughter, Sakiya, is an intellectual girl. She loves reading books and writing. She is looking for someone who has the same interests as her. She is in love with Sikandar, her father’s friend’s son. However, Sakiya’s father does not like this relationship because of some unlikeable traits in Sikandar’s father.

Sakiya and Sikandar are against the oppression of the rich. They are always sympathetic towards the poor. Rehmat finally locates Zarina in the jungle. Both Zarina and Ali know if Rehmat catches them, he will take Zarina away. Zarina knows she cannot escape her fate. She asks Ali to give up and kill her with his axe. Ali kills her before Rehmat gets to them. Ali goes into a shock immediately. Rehmat calls the police and they put Ali in jail. The story takes a twist when Sikandar and Sakiya get to know about this case and decide to help Ali.
