Aangan is a Pakistani TV serial aired from November 2017 to July 2018 on ARY Digital. The story revolves around a Punjabi joint family consisting of Mian Ji and Zaitoon Bano (the family’s patriarch and his wife), their three sons, their respective families, an older daughter named Aneela, and the younger, unmarried daughter named Zoya. Zoya’s marriage status is one of great concern for the family. However, the solution to their worries is Aqdas, the eldest daughter-in-law’s friend’s son. Aqdas and Zoya’s love story is tested by parental disapproval, familial expectations, and their defiance of societal norms. On the other hand, Saadan (Zoya’s Nephew) is in love with a girl of whom his mother disapproves. and Asim and Laila, the second son and daughter-in-law, are a happy but childless couple. Zahid and Rubeena are the third son and daughter-in-law respectively, but Zahid is unavailable to support his family and Rubeena and her children are instead cared for by the family.

The contrast between these two relationships also further complicates the family dynamic. The show is filled with obstacles in the way of the family members. The discovery of one of the men having a second wife, or property dispute, or even a secret elopement; the show tests the family's strong ties. The show, as a result, is about how family ties are always tested by life, but only through a strong sense of family and familial love can relationships survive despite tough times.
