“Mrs.Subbalakshmi” is a comedy serial telecasted on ZEE5 and focuses on a woman named Subbalakshmi. Mrs. Subbalakshmi is portrayed as a married woman who is a hard-working housewife and the perfect loving mother for her kids. However, her husband is a fellow workaholic who never has the time to appreciate her efforts. He barely notices her yet expects her to do her duties expected of a perfect housewife and tells her to be a good mother. He never supports her now wants to know if she enjoys her life. When he forgets about their wedding anniversary, Mrs. Subbalakshmi has had enough of her husband’s pointless demands, and she decides to take her friend’s advice. She decides to take a day off for herself and sets her foot outside. She requests her family and friends to not let anyone know about her location or to try and call her or anything.

How she manages to spend her day constitutes the rest of the serial. It involves showing how her husband Subramanyam is furious after he finds her missing and downright refuses to believe that she can go outside and manage all on her own. It also involves him going in search of his wife. Both of them meet certain people in their way, which leads them to have several realizations and second thoughts about their behavior. Overall, this serial focuses on woman empowerment and tries to subdue toxic masculinity.
