The series begins with a murder investigation that has taken place in the neighbourhood.

Maruti Chougle, a local present there, calls the police and reports that a woman in his neighbourhood has been murdered. The police reach there and begin the investigation. The investigators start to question the local people and to record the information. They gather information that the lady murdered was Suneena and her husband was Tukaram, the police think that the crime may have been caused due to domestic issues, dowry problems, or love affairs. He has been questioned, and he says that he was at his work place at the time of the murder. His behaviour marks him as a suspect for the police. Then the investigators spoke with the watchman at Tukaram’s workplace and came to understand that he was not in office during the murder time, he left the office claiming to have two modes of leave, that he had a headache and tummy trouble.

Tukaram left the office around nine to nine-thirty at night. This contrasts the theory of Tukaram that he was at work. This was a lead for the case. Police got another lead from a local who was around the vicinity with blood stains and his name was Srikant. As the investigation was going on they interrogated Tukaram and concluded that Tukaram killed his wife as he testified to the incident. He was madly in love with his wife and wanted to provide her with the best life he could, but her recent behaviour made him think that his wife was having an extramarital relationship with Shrikant. To confront whether she is cheating on him he left the office early to check on her and when he reached his house he got proof that his wife was cheating on him and this made him heartbroken and the anger and rage made him kill her. He planned to kill both of them but only managed to kill one. Tukaram left Shrikant so that blame him for the murder of Suneena. He was arrested and as murder can never be justified under any circumstances.

The story not only speaks about the causes of an affair but also the violent nature of Tukaram in it. Through the series, the narrator is showing how extramarital affairs are like cancer to society and also shows us that the solutions for these issues are not murder. The story speaks about suspicion, jealousy, and taking the law into one's own hands. The more important topics discussed by the series are domestic violence, gender relations, and the inevitable pressure of societal expectations on marriages. The police investigators work hard to prove the case through evidence, talking to witnesses and revealing the truth step by step. The night watchman, Shambu is the character who led to the turning point of the story. Shambu testified that he saw Tukaram leave early which was against the testimony of Turkaram. This shows the diligent police work whose net caught all the available witnesses. The story also speaks about the psychology of the killer and the investigation based on that.
