Bobanum Jayanum is a Malayalam TV show telecasted on Surya TV at 5 pm. The show Bobanum Jayanum draws inspiration from the Malayalam comic Boban and Molly. The comic Boban and Molly was a weekly Malayalam comic which was developed by VT Thomas, whose pen name is Toms. Boban and Molly was the longest- running comic series and is a political satire. Boban and Molly were the names of twin brother and sister, who were from the district of Travancore. Boban and Molly became popular through Malayala Manorama weekly, which published the comic strip for almost 40 years. There was a controversial legal battle between Malayala Manorama weekly and Thomas, after which the comics began to appear in a comic magazine called Toms Magazine. Thomas said that he got the inspiration for the comic strip from two kids, who used to live in his neighborhood in Kuttanad.
