Having completed his Bachelor of Arts from University of Dehli in English Literature he went on to study acting in London at the Drama Studio London. Ashwin initially started in television commercial roles, which led to him being picked up for The Great Indian Comedy Show, a cult television show. The show was a half hour comedy show, which consisted of stand-up comedy and skits. His popularity increased due to the show and he was casted in featured films from there on.
Ashwin first hit came in 2006 in Lage Raho Munna Bhai. He played "Hari Desai" alongside Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi’s, "Munna Bhai" and “Circuit". The movie was well received and was a sequel to the blockbuster hit Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. He has since been featured in 16 films but has yet to capture a leading role. Along with acting Ashwin has done voice-overs for over 300 projects. These range from television commercials to Hollywood movies being dubbed in Hindi. He is the official voice for Chinese actor, Takeshi Kaneshiro, and U.S. actor, Adam Sandler.
