Mad men, is a famous American sitcom which premiered on July 19, 2007, in The United States of America on the channel AMC. The sitcom was created by Mathew Weiner and was produced by lion’s gate production. It was set in 1960’s and revolved around the life of a man named Donald Draper, who was the creative director of a reputed advertising agency “Sterling Cooper”. The well-known actor John Hamm played the role of Donald Draper. Season one is set in the year 1960.The main plot focuses on the life and happenings of the people working in the prestigious sterling cooper.

Even though she faces hostility and discontent among her coworker, she works her way up due to her hard work. She is attracted to Pete Campbell ('Vincent Cartheiser'), a junior accounts manager, who takes a liking in her as well, and this result in them spending a night together on Pete’s bachelor’s party. She pines for him as he is married.

Don, on the other hand, tries to maintain a balance between his personal and professional life. He is a womaniser, who is unfaithful to his wife, which leads to their divorce eventually later in the series. Peggy gains weight and is unaware of the fact that her weight gain is because of her being pregnant with Pete’s child. She gives up the baby for adoption after delivering it. The season ends with Dons and Betty’s argument about him not interested in attending her families’ Thanksgiving. Don finally decided to spend Thanksgiving with his family but comes back to an empty and dark home.

The season was appreciated by the viewers due to its unique storyline and perfect portrayal of the 1960’s America. It won Emmy awards out of 15 nominations in the first season. It had a high rating in the first episode and attracted a lot of viewers due to its interesting storyline and script. The first season had 13 episodes which went on for a duration of 45 minutes each. It was considered as a very controversial show on television. The series finally concluded on May 17,2015 with seven seasons. It was a highly successful sitcom which gained a huge fan following and several fan pages online.
