Banged up Abroad is an English Tv show, which airs on the National Geographic channel. The show is also known as Locked up Abroad in different parts of Asia and the United States of America and Jailed Up Abroad in India. Banged up Abroad is a British docudrama series. The show aired in March 2006 for Channel 5. Bart Layton produced the show. The show features stories of people who went to jail in a foreign country mostly for illegal smuggling of drugs. However, Banged up Abroad also features stories of people who were kidnapped in a foreign country, while they were traveling or living abroad. Some episodes of the show were later made into films, like the Goodfellas, Mr. Nice, and Argo. There have been a total of 13 seasons of the show since 2006 and an exclusive season called Kidnapped Abroad. The last season of the show started in January 2020. The episodes of the series narrate both the interviews of the captive or arrested and also shows actors dramatizing the events. The actors enact the events leading up to the arrest and also show how the person eventually came into police custody. On the other hand, the arrested person narrates his experience and tells the audience his story.
