BBC One HD and BBC One are the channels which telecast the show. The makers decided to come up with another season as it's predecessor received immense success. It consists of six episodes, each chapter focussing on the natural wonders of natures like islands, mountains, dessert, and many more. In addition to the above six, an extra episode was shot which focussed on the entire world. The series visited beautiful places and managed to capture the region's beauty on the lens while also sending a message of preserving this wonders of nature. It was previously named One Planet but the makers changed the title of the show at the time of it's premier.

It was touted to be unique as it was shot using high definition cameras and aerial technology. Besides British, the serial was aired in many other countries on the same network. However, in some nations like Belgium, Netherlands, Japan, Israel, and Australia, it is aired on different TV Channel. In America, three TV Channels simultaneously telecasted the serial. The people of United Kingdom saw the first episode on November 6, 2016 and the last chapter on January 1, 2017. Approximately, twelve million viewers watched the first chapter thus setting a new record.

It would run for only a day in a week. The show received overwhelming response from both, the audience and the critics alike. All the critics gave positive reviews to the serial. Steven Moss wrote a book which is inspired by the documentary. It also contained David Attenborough's foreword. The book was made available to the people of British on October 6, 2016. The same book was released in the United States of America on February 15, 2017. An album consisting of all the soundtracks of the program was also delivered to the public on November 11, 2016.
