Runjun Nupure Maate is an Assamese television series that aired on channel Rengoni TV. The story revolves around the life or Runjun, a young Assamese woman, living a happy married life with her kind and loving husband. Runjun had the perfect wedding, which was like a dream come true for her. She was getting married into a very dignified and noble family by her uncle, who took on the role of her guardian after she lost her parents as a child. The marriage went smoothly, and Runjun felt over the moon with happiness. Little did she knew that her joy soon turned into sorrow as her husband's true colors began to reveal. Some time into the marriage she realised that the man she once admired has become frightening for her now. And from here onwards, everything started to fall apart for her.

The priests were not respected, and even her father-in-law, who she thought was a supportive figure, began to disrespect her under his son's corrupt influence. Now, Runjun's respect and position in the house diminished slowly. But admist all this chaos, one person remained kind to Runjun, a servant in the house. He saw how Ranjun was silenced after extreme torture so he decision to take action. Despite the risks, he helped Runjun escape the house. From here onwards he took her to his house and gave her refuge. The show features the main theme of women empowerment as it highlights Runjun's journey through many hardships and challenges to finding her own self-worth and a sense of peace.
