The story starts with Anu, whose life is filled with the unrelenting pursuit of hope against the shadows of despair. She is heavily pregnant. The crushing weight of her husband's expectations for a boy shadows Anu's journey. Her husband has a never-ending longing for a son. Previously, when she was pregnant, an early examination found that she was having a girl. On knowing this, her husband immediately aborted the infant. She was heartbroken and shattered. Anu is stuck in a never-ending cycle of disappointment, but her undying affection for her unborn child keeps her spirits high.
Anu's world shakes with fear when fate hands her a daughter again. She has the instinctive need to protect her child. Anu makes a desperate decision, knowing that her husband will take her newborn to hell. She runs to the nearest town and abandons her priceless bundle outside a temple. Through a fortunate turn of events, Arup and his wife saw Anu running and got out of their car to investigate. Following the meek cries that cut through the darkness, Priti and Arup discover the infant. They take the baby in their arms. They are filled with compassion, and they form a bond that goes beyond blood relations. Anu sees this secretly, and this gives her a ray of hope in the shadows.
Arup wants to leave the baby in the orphanage, while Priti wants to adopt the baby. Finally, Arup gives in to Priti's wishes and adopts her. They start loving her as their own child. Arup’s mother and sister dislike their newfound parenthood. They recoil at the decision of the adoption as it is not their blood. Their minds are unable to grasp the capacity of love of a mother. However, Arup’s father happily accepts her as her granddaughter. Anu’s decision is a testament to the power of motherhood, a reminder that the true essence of a family does not lie in the lineage of blood but in the capacity to love another soul selflessly.
