Devlok With Devdutt Pattnaik is an Indian television series which aired on EPIC Channel and was produced by EPIC Channel Network Pvt. Ltd. in two seasons. Season 1 was aired on 21st October 2015 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 pm and had 26 episodes while Season 2 was premiered on 11th July 2016 on Mondays to Thursdays at 10 pm and consisted of 30 episodes. Devdutt Pattnaik playing the author, speaker and illustrator who narrated different tales about gods, goddess, demi-gods and demons through innumerable plots. The essence here is Indian culture. Hindu mythology is analysed in this show. The first season answers many questions of our mind which we fail to understand and voice- ‘Why are most temples dedicated to Vishnu and Shiva or the goddess but not to Brahma or Indra?’, ‘Do gods also get cursed?’ etc.. Each episode covers one magical tale from the great texts of Ramayana and Mahabharata and the concepts of Hindu Mythology related in each episode are quite engaging and addictive.Â
The different aspects and the stories related to the Holy triad-Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva to the different avatars of Goddess Durga are explained. The show showcased the journey through Hindu mythology world with Devdutt Pattnaik discussing the various stories and explaining them and their lessons applicable in today’s world.
Devdutt with his amazing orating skills, beautifully narrated the stories in relevance to what it means and decoding them to understand them regarding our culture identity.
