Abhiram is a man of values. He wants to be perfect and doesn’t hesitate to question if he finds any loopholes in the societal system. It is ironic that his dad, Dasarath is a corrupted government official. However, Abhiram makes an attempt in IAS and gets posted to his city. During his reign as a collector, the water bodies were encroached and hence the excess water destroys the nearby farms and creates question marks in the lives of the farmers. Vishaka Vani is an entrepreneur turned politician, who want to dominate everything. Meanwhile, an NRI, Myra visits the city in search of her missing brother. Abhiram had to sort out all the issues and save the people. But, he had to manage all the corrupted officials. How did he manage? Did Myra meet her brother? The rest of the story deals with all these.
Sai Dharam Tej is perfect in his role. He dances well and emotes well. Minute expressions are important in a sensitive script and Sai Dharam Tel bring them with ease. Ramya Krishnan had revealed almost all sides of her acting talent. Antagonist role is not new to her and she had already done a few strong negative roles. This time, she has come with a different role and impressed the audience. Jagapati Babu is good as usual. Aishwarya Rajesh didn’t get a strong role. Yet, she is good.
Like other political thrillers, the film starts with the hero’s family and his corrupted father, and his ambitions. Slowly it gets into the plot with a strong background plot. The film travels through the eyes of the protagonist. The scenes are neatly designed and executed. The screenplay is pretty quick and doesn’t make the audience feel bored. Ramya Krishnan’s role is strongly designed and she fits well in the character than any other star. The film is technically strong and the production values are good too.
What’s Not There?
Republic is a good political thriller but with a heavy-dosed climax. If you watch political thrillers with huge interest, you can make it a try!
