Plot

Star Performances
While the plot is nothing new, the way Muni Sahekara attempted to family emotions is.
Tanikella Bharani as the veteran actor brings out the best of his experience, portraying the role of a responsible villager well.
Analysis
As a film, ‘Mechanic’ offers nothing much. The plot is all the same: regular ruffian falls for a girl, has an encounter with the rowdies, listens to his idealist grandfather, and finally tries to change the village for the good.
So, what makes this different? Well, the director [who has also written the script for this film] did take a risk of making a family drama, with a clear social message. It may not have been the best of attempts, but at least the director tried. Technically, the film is sound, and the camerawork is also decent, as per the requirements.
With seasoned actors like Tanikella Bharani, ‘Mechanic’ proceeded in the right direction. The emotional quotient was up to the mark, and some of the acting performances did leave a lasting impact. It is Tanikella Bharani’s efforts that almost single-handedly make the film engaging to an extent.
However, the film does have some unmistakable flaws. Despite his best efforts, Mani Sai Teja’s efforts don’t look whole-hearted. His chemistry with Rekha Nirosha looks genuine, but in some emotional scenes, his efforts fall short. The antagonist is also not properly developed, and some of the crucial sequences also look underwhelming

Verdict
‘Mechanic’ is a social drama that did not reach up to its full potential. The director had a good vision, but the execution hardly matched up to the same. However, the efforts of the technical crew, as well as some of the actors, somehow salvaged this film. Watch it if you have lots of time to spare!
