Plot

Mathangi and Vairavan are siblings. Sargunam is Vairavan’s close pal, and he is married to Mathangi. Vairavan and Sargunam’s characters are entirely different; when Vairavan believes in actions than words, Sargunam is his opposite. Mathangi balances both of them. Mathangi has a daughter. As Sargunam prefers going by law, he earns a lot of opposition. A cruel villain interrupts their life and disturbs their family. Meanwhile, one of them gets stuck in a murder. Will they manage the villain? Who killed whom? Were they able to escape from the law? The rest of the story deals with all these.

Star Performance

When coming to the performance, Jyothika is the Queen. She emotes excellently and impresses the audience with her natural performance. Samuthirakani is usual in his job. Sasikumar is good as a brother. Kalaiyarasan is the menacing villain, and he has done it perfectly. This is the first time he has done such a cruel role. We hope to see him in the villain roles hereafter. Sija Rose, the popular Malakka, is good in her role. Niveditha and Soori fit well in their roles.

Analysis

The story has nothing new. We have seen a lot of emotional siblings’ stories, and this is one among the ten. The film has some touch from films of this genre, but the difference is the artists and their dialogues  Jyothika lived in that role. It is her specialty to fit firmly in a role when committed. Although Jyo has performed in a few rural subject films, this is the first time, she is seen in a typical rural woman getup with nose pins and curly hair. She has a lot of scopes to show up her acting skills and she has utilized them well. The songs are fantastic, especially the Anne Yaaranne song is beautiful in the voice of Shreya Ghoshal Shreya Ghoshal, one of the most famous singers in >> Read More... . Imman’s song composition and BGM are rocking. The cinematography by Velraj is good. The production values are good.

Verdict

Udanpirappe is a sentimental rural siblings’ entertainer with a lot of emotions. Soori’s comedy scenes are good. Except for that, we couldn’t see anything fresh and unique in the script. Above all, this is Jyothika’s 50^th film. For the performance of the artists and Jyo, the film is worth watching!
