Plot
Gulu Gulu revolves around the life of Google (Santhanam), Mario. Google is a generous philanthropist who sets out to resolve issues, but trouble follows him everywhere. The film opens by showing Matilda (Athulya Chandra), who comes to her town when her father dies. Her stepbrothers don’t get along well with her, so one of them decides to get her kidnapped and assigns this task to a professional abductor.
The other side of the story is of a youngster who has doubts as to whether his father loves him or not. He wants to put his father to the test, and so, along with his friends, this young guy decides to get himself kidnapped. Things go wrong when both identities get mistaken, and the protagonist, Google, is approached to resolve the problem. Google along with him brings chaos; Will he solve their issues or become one of their problems?
The question remains.
Star Performances
Various actors in this movie need to be appreciated. George Maryan plays the role of a modern-age kidnapper, and his few lines and perfect dialogue delivery do complete justice to his role. Over the years, the protagonist Santhanam, has tried on many roles. The experience reflected in this film, but his character had much more potential.
Analysis
Gulu Gulu explores themes of comedy and suspense. It also serves as an emotion-packed movie. The conflict begins when a staged abduction goes wrong. Google is called to resolve the issue, but trouble follows him everywhere.
The movie tries to blend the elements of comedy and suspense. But it falters when it comes to storytelling; A definite conflict is introduced but no proper resolution is executed in the movie. The dialogues aim to humor the audience but fail miserably, appearing to be blatant at times. The director has tried to bring a fresh concept for the viewers but has failed to present it in a structured manner. The storyline and plot could be devised more articulately to please the audience.
