Plot
Huchheeri lost her mother at a young age, and her stepmother gets her married off to an elderly man, who is also a drunkard. Huchheeri is unable to meet her loving father, too. She is the only breadwinner and her drunkard husband assaults her and steals all the money that she saved. Her mother-in-law supports her drunkard son and not her daughter-in-law. The only solace in Huchheeri’s life is her daughter, Lachu. One day, Lachu expresses her desire to eat chicken curry and informs her mother that it is being prepared at the village head’s home. To fulfill her daughter’s wish, Huchheeri cooks rice and plans to get some curry from the head’s home. What happened next? Was she able to get it? The rest of the story deals with this.
Star Performance
Akshatha Pandavapura plays the role of Huchheeri. As a solo breadwinner of the family who does all odd jobs, who faces backlash from her family, Akshatha neatly emoted in all sequences. Apeksha Nagaraj Chornahalli is no lesser than any good performer. The kid’s expression is fantastic and her eyes show how she is longing for Koli Esru. It make one feel the poverty of the family and her love to eat good food, in her single eye movement.
Analysis
The film showcased all the odds faced by a woman who longs for love and peaceful life. Akshatha is a fine choice to play the mother. The characters are designed fantastically and not cinematic. Though Huchheeri wishes to get her daughter, the Koli Esru, she wants her daughter’s help in earning money. She doesn’t want the kid to continue her studies despite being an illiterate herself. This is the odd reality. The director has handled certain terms well in the dialogues. No terms are used to hurt anyone’s sensibilities. The visuals, editing, and the BGM are adequate.
