Plot
The plot of the movie is set in a small village. Shabana is politically active for the safety and protection of farm animals like cow and ox. He has his team. Whenever he sees someone in the village beating up animals he reports them to police and confiscate those animals with the help of his friends. There’s a significant role of caste and class in the village. The story shifts on Kallu who is butcher but his family is living in an extreme poverty. His daughter was expelled from her school because he couldn’t pay her fees. Kallu goes to Shambu to borrow some money. He is one of Kallu’s friends. However, Shambu’s financial conditions are not very good either. So he gives Kallu an Ox. By selling the ox, he can get some money. Shabana and his friends get the wrong idea. They thought that Kallu was going to slaughter the ox. The rumours spread around the village, and the communal tension began rising. Some people supported Kallu and some supported Shabana. Meanwhile, the focus shifts on Ankur who is a reporter. He is trying to get some of his work published in the newspaper. However, in the remaining story, he tries to uncover the true face of Shabana and his friends, who hurt innocent people after claiming themselves as a protector of farm animals like cows.
Star performance
The story of the movie doesn’t revolve around any one character. There are many actors in the film who played a significant role. However, Shabana’s character is one of the protagonists in the movie. Manisha Mondal plays his role. In the film, Manisha is a man who works as a protector and saves cows and other animals from getting killed. The balance between the emotions of his character is palpable. Shabana is depicted as a powerful speaker and leader. Manisha Mondal has delivered an impressive performance. Other significant leads include Gehana Vasisth, Amit Pundir and Nikita Vijayvargia have delivered nuanced performance making the script look more real. All of them have done impressive work.
Analysis
Unmaad is a brilliant film. The film’s plot is interesting as it doesn’t only focus on one character rather it focus on a wide range of actors. It covers the story of almost all the characters. The film can also be seen as a commentary on the society. Kallu’s character suffered from poverty and is also a victim of communal tension the film presented a critique to the society. However, the pace of the film is problematic. The film doesn’t have a big budget. It is a low budget movie due to which the cinematography suffered a little. Otherwise the cinematography is better than most of the low budget movies. Moreover, the movie’s script is realistic and authentic.
It is a comment on the people like Shabana who are usually over religious and blinded by the religion. They mostly end up hurting innocent people. The script is pretty exceptional and unique. The film showed pure Hindu orthodox society. The execution of the script is excellent. The whole cast of the movie is fantastic. They have delivered outstanding performances. The soundtracks are enjoyable and inspiring. It perfectly rhymes with the themes of the film.

Unmaad is a watchable movie. People who get amused by hindu orthodox should watch this drama as it is quite an motivational film. Even, the themes of the movie are expectation. It will not let you down. It is definitely one-time watch.
