Plot

With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the whole country fell sick from the virus, and the healthcare system is on the brink of collapse. Amid this chaos, the ICMR team was tasked with developing a vaccine that can save the lives of millions of Indians. The story concentrates on India's development of Covaxin, the first indigenous COVID-19 vaccine, following a team of scientists from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) as they work tirelessly to create a safe and effective vaccine against the deadly virus. The film walks us through the challenges faced by the team including lack of resources, political pressure, and mutation of the same virus. However, the team fights against all odds, driven by their patriotism and commitment to public health.

Star Performance

The stellar cast brought life to the film, with Nana Patekar as Dr. Balram Bhargava, Director General of the ICMR, Anupam Kher as the Cabinet Secretary of India, Pallavi Joshi as Dr. Priya Abraham, Director of the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Sapthami Gowda as Dr. Sreelakshmi Mohandas, NIV, and Nivedita Bhattacharya as Dr. Pragya Yadav, NIV, These actors lived as their respective characters in the film, making them feel incredibly real.

Analysis

The Vaccine War beautifully portrays how the scientists and doctors of ICMR and NIV transformed the media's pessimistic narrative of "India Can't Do It" into a triumphant "India Can Do It in the fight against the pandemic. The engaging storyline kept the audience at the edge of the seat till the end. But still, showed some lag in the second half of the film, while the first half has been constructed perfectly.
