CAST & CREW
Dolly Ki Doli, directed by debutant Abhishek Dogra and produced under banner Arbaaz Khan Productions, centers Sonam Kapoor as the lead. In almost every frame she resembles herself, charming the people in the movie, though not the audience.
Plot The film features Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma who worked together previously in Fukrey and Raj Kumar Yadav. All of them play the love victims opposite Sonam Kapoor, who is part of a con gang that finds single men to marry Sonam Kapoor. Then they rob their houses clean after mixing sleeping pills in their milk after their wedding. Pulkit Samrat plays the police officer who gets involved in the case only because he wishes to avenge her betrayal to him. He manages to catch her and then lets her out of jail to get married to her only to have her leave him yet again and go off with her gang for another con. Saif Ali Khan is also seen in the movie playing a cameo.
Analysis The movie is tied to Sonam Kapoor’s character that itself is loosely written and under-performed. It is often funny with the contribution of a lot of other comedy actors that play their part to ensure hilarity in the situations. It may not be the worst movie ever, but it does not have any mention-worthy feature. It does offer its funny one-liners and hilarious instances though at times getting repetitive. The music composed by Sajid-Wajid is often out of place and provides for at times irritating breaks in between the movie. Malaika Arora Khan’s item number fails to impress as well. Though Sonam Kapoor gets flattered in her vanity throughout the movie, the other actors keep up their acts with good performance and deliver a decent stress reliever.
The plot brings something new to the Hindi cinema and manages to give a final product of light-hearted comedy that can surely be enjoyed with people around you.
