Plot

The plot of the story revolves around a boy named Julian. After the event, Julian left Beecher Prep willingly. Julian is an introverted kid who doesn’t like to talk to anyone. His grandmother, Sara, visits him. After being transferred to a new school, Julian lost the spark of his life. Sara was a young Jewish girl in her school days. She was an intelligent school girl when Nazi occupied France during WWII.

In the year 1942, Sara escaped from Gestapo. However, she has to spend more than a year in the barn of her friend Julien’s house. Julien helped her in tough times. At the time, he was suffering from poliomyelitis. Julien’s parents instructed Sara to not leave the barn at any cost as Gestapo and Milice informers will catch her. Julien used to go to the school in day time. At night he taught Sara whatever he learned in the class. By the time they grew closer and fell in love. In 1944, Monte Cassino got liberated. One of the Milice arrested Julien on his way back from school. They threw Julien in the back of a lorry. It was used for transformation into a remote camp. While escaping from the camp, Julien was shot dead by the Milice. At the end of the war, Sara gets reunited with her father. However, at Auschwitz, Sara’s mother got killed.

Star Performance

Sara Bluma is the main character of the story. Ariella Glaser plays her character. Throughout the film, Ariella gives a nuanced performance. Her depiction of Sara is pretty interesting. Her struggle and trauma were rightly showed on the screen. Another important character in the story is Julien. Orlando Schwerdt plays his character. Orlando did an excellent job. His character in the movie has a soft heart. Mainly, Orlando’s acting skills were impressive and brilliant. Julian is another central character in the film. Bryce Gheisar plays Julian’s character. Bryce played his role perfectly. His acting skills were fantastic. Bryce made Julian’s character an interesting one. The supporting actors like Kaymakci, Orlando Schwerdt, Jem Matthews, Jordan Cramond, Yelisey Kazakevich and Vladimír Javorsky gave brilliant performances.

Analysis

The movie White Bird is a fantastic film. The script of the film is an exciting story. The story is more of a flashback. In the movie, one can also see the drawbacks of the world war and the destruction caused by it. The movie is a very emotional and heart-warming film. The execution of the movie is pretty impressive. It is all about the past. The story gets told from various character’s perspective. It made the script more compelling.

The supporting and the main actors delivered great performances. The chemistry between them was brilliant and sparking. The movie however, lacked thriller and suspense. The film’s plot is also predictable. The script gives out many messages to the world surrounded by war. It gives audiences hope in the post war period. The cinematography of the film is precisely good. The camera angles used were quite impressive. The soundtrack used in the film is soft-tuned and depressing. It matched with the script of the movie.
