The Rings 3D is the long-delayed sequel of the Rings two which was released in 2005. This is the third installment of the franchise. This horror movie is directed by F. Javier Gutierrez and is based on the Japanese novel, Ringu. Plot:
You must have somehow forgotten what the story was in the previous sequels. It revolves around the existence of an unknown videotape that contains a short film which is weird and uncanny. After viewing the video, you get a phone call from a little girl saying ‘seven days’ and you are supposed to make a copy of that video. If you fail to do so and someone else watches it in that time, you die in a mysterious way. It is all involved with a girl named Samara, who lived a very sad life and died violently and now her spirits have become demonic and haunt that video. All the people who watch it are terrorized by her, as she comes out of the television screens to claim her victims. This story centers an adorable couple, Alex and Holt, who are separating as Holt is going off to college and Julia stays back home because her mother is sick. She doesn’t hear from Holt for long and so decides to drive to his college to find out what’s wrong. When she meets with his favorite teacher, Gabriel, she gets a little suspicious because he and his students are trying to unfold the secrets behind a videotape. Julia ends up watching the video to save Holt, and then both of them set on to a haunted journey to bring peace to Samara’s soul. They discover that Julia’s copy of the video contains some additional scenes? What is new in the video now? Do they help Samara? Watch the film to find out.
Analysis:
This Franchise is based on the Japanese novel ‘Ringu’ written by Koji Suzuki and has performed well in the theatres so far. Ring 3D has new elements and twists in its plot.
Star Performance:
The cast has done a decent job with their performances and has managed to create horror in the minds of the audience.
What’s there?
1. Has new elements of horror for the audience.
2. Visual appeal is appreciable.
What’s not there?
1. Repetition of many things from the previous movies.
2. Unnecessary sequences involved in the plot.
Verdict:
If you’ve watched the previous films of this franchise, it might leave you in curiosity as to what happens in this installment. It is a one-time watch and comparatively less scary than the other films.
