‘ Take Down Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ or alternatively titled ‘Billionaires Ransom’ is an action movie involving spoilt billionaire teenagers learning the harsh truth of life and fighting for their survival.

Plot: The story revolves around a bunch of teenagers who fit the definition of ‘spoilt kids of rich parents’ who are sent away to the Scottish Isles to mend their ways in a boot camp. These teenagers have disturbed personalities or rather are just stubborn because of the lavish lifestyle they enjoyed back home.

Kyle ( Jeremy Sumpter Jeremy Sumpter is that character from Peter Pan mo >> Read More... ), is one such stubborn boy. His story begins when he gets involved in a car crash and walks away from the scene of the accident. He is then given the option of attending the boot camp for kids like him. Another teenager, Phoebe Tonkins is also part of the camp and so is Dominic Sherwood.

These teenagers are given extensive training to face the harsh world which extends beyond their comfortable and luxurious lifestyles. The twist in the tale arrives when a group of sophisticated kidnappers hold these kids captive and demand ransom from their rich parents. The rich brats are aware that their parents will spare the ransom for them but for survival they have to stick together and use every bit of training from the boot camp. Whether they come out alive or lose their lives in this ordeal is what the theaters will have in store for the audience.

Analysis: ‘I Remember What You Did Last Summer’ director, Jim Gillespie has made a comeback in the industry with “Take Down’. The movie, supposed to be an action thriller is low on the action quotient. The storyline is good but the execution is not that appealing.

The film lacks the ‘Midas touch’, nothing exceptional than other movies of the same genre. ‘Take Down’ presents beautiful scenery fit to be considered as somewhere in the green Scottish Isles. The movie has its moments and certain points when the adrenaline level surges and therefore it is not a bad but more of a mediocre venture.

Star Performances: ‘Take Down’ boasts of an energetic combination of actors who deliver their best.Sumpter plays an arrogant kid and adds his personal touch to further reveal greyer shades of conceit yet making the character quite lovable and memorable. Phoebe Tonkin is also in the role of a teenager and portrays it to perfection. Gossip girl star, Ed Westwick, is the mastermind criminal who decides to hold the kids as hostages for ransom. There is the perfect combination of poise, anger and violence exercised by him for the character.

What’s There: The excitement rate is high with certain scenes like one where a broken bone is jammed down another’s jugular. Scenes like this up the action quotient of the movie. The cast is comparatively new and will be a surprise in store. There is technical expertise which makes this venture stand out even if the genre is generally a common one.

What’s Not There: The action is minimal and not very surprising or energetic. At points the movie is un-engaging and will be unable to hold the audiences interest.

Verdict: ‘Take Down’ is a good movie but does not meet expectations. It is not a very great film but can be considered for an occasional watch. The audience can give this one a try at the theaters. ‘Take Down’ will not leave you asking for more but will also not leave you hoping that you had less.
