Doesn’t paranormal activity thrill us? Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is another horror story involving many gory scenes and scary moments. Christopher Landon’s directed film features, Andrew Jacob playing the role of Jessie, Jorge Diaz as Hector, and Gabrielle Walsh as Marisol.
Plot:
It’s the eve of high school graduation, and Jessie and Hector have a list of great ideas they have to explore in the summer. Though they don’t have ideas of what they will do with their lives yet, they are very excited about their where-bout in summer. They have this funky camera that can mess around with this summer. Besides all this, there is some wild stuff going on in Jessie’s apartment that has grabbed everyone’s attention. There is this weird woman who stays downstairs named Anna. People say she’s a witch or is involved in some spiritual activities. This is not a joke because Jessie always hears weird noises from her apartment. They hung their camera to find out what she’s up to. What’s inside? The apartment is full of blood, candles, Ouija board, little symbols, and statues. What happens next? When Anna is dragged out of her apartment in a body bag, the very next day Jessie wakes up with a bite mark and starts behaving weirdly. Hector suspects that he is possessed. Their camera has it all recorded. To know what happens next watch the film.
Analysis:
The movie has offered variations from different haunted movies from ancient to contemporary haunting. The formula of a fairly scary movie was consistent.
Star Performance:
A cast capable enough to scare its viewers is undoubtedly a good cast. The performance of the entire cast has been brilliant. From child actors to the adult actors everybody has justified their role.
What’s there?
1. New elements of horror are seen.
2. The direction and scripting are enjoyable.
3. Casting young teen boys could prove risky, but the child actors in the film are exceptionally good with their roles.
What’s not there?
1. The audience has expected more of horrifying scenes from the film.
2. The duration of the film was a disappointment to the genre.
3. The visual and audio effects could have been better.
Verdict:
All in all, for the lovers of the horror genre it is a good film. Little extra effort could have been made to the film look much better. It is a good film for a scary weekend getaway.
