Plot
A non-violent egalitarian society of Yunnan, China that lives in harmony and peacefully. On the 50th anniversary of the United Nations, The Mosuo were recognized as the “model society”. How long the foundation of this community would last in today’s time?

As this is a documentary it beautifully showcases the locations, people with great authenticity.
Analysis
The film shows the community with great lens their traditions, and how they live in harmony, the documentary is visually stunning, beautiful shots of the Himalayas. The society is matriarchal and every family has a “dabu” an elder female who chooses who’ll succeed her. Every custom is shown in detail. It's fascinating to see a society like this in today’s time that is going successfully and has 40,000 people under its belt. Nu Guo- In the Name of the Mother is a beautiful documentary that showcases how you can live peacefully and in harmony.
