Adapted from the popular Irish television show comes a very much awaited movie of Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie where we can see Mrs. Brown’s usual shenanigans as she tries to save her stall of fruits and vegetables in the market. 

Plot: In the Moore Street market, Mrs. Agnes Brown finds her stall under threat by a cruel developer. This threat leads the Brown family on a quest to save the stall as it is her only means of livelihood and on this quest; they were joined by a very strange and multi-faceted group of people who agree to help her. 

After the 1999 Agnes Browne, Anjelica Huston played the lead, in this movie, Brendan O’Carroll take the lead to play the role of Mrs. Brown. One would expect that he might be doing something for the role of Mrs. Brown the same that Robin Williams Robin Williams is a legendary actor and comedian. >> Read More... did for Mrs. Doubtfire, and somehow that doesn’t hit the mark. The act of O’Carroll seems rather childish and a little too fake. Even in the funniest scenes, it is very much apparent to the viewers that Mrs. Brown is a man in a dress, barely pretending to be an old lady is just having the mickey out of trying to hit other men, who are supposed to presume that the person in the dress is really a woman. 

The set in the movie is very much pretentious and seems to be suddenly ripped off from the actual tv show and put down for the movie in utter haste. The movie may not be completely unfunny or the performance of the actors may not be that bad, but in the end, the extremely bland script, and the plot line is what the makes the movie fail at many different levels, which the TV show never lacked. 

Verdict: To this not-so-hilarious Irish TV show adaptation that failed to impress and gather as many original fans as the TV show did, I give this movie, 1 out of 5 victories.
